a message to exiles and the lost boys.

hewwo. so I was talkin to tim the other week about some of the "end game" stuff like fighting certain hnms or whatever it usually takes a large amount of competant players to accomplish. Tim said that exiles cant really pull that stuff off atm and i refused to accept it but he's right. We dont have the numbers and if we set up an event like that half the people would'nt show i'd wager and then it hit me! Recently exiles has accomplished some really great stuff but we did it with the help of other people, most of which are the lost boys. I've asked around and people seem to agree that you lost boys seem like good people and good players. We did zilart together and we do dynamis together and whatnot. I would never leave exiles and i bet alot of you lost boys would never leave your ls either so instead what I think might be mutually good would be that we form sort of a friendly alliance. we are our own linkshells with our own members and rules but face it.. we work well together and get along well. Why cant we get some of those sweet end game items? why cant we fight some of those sweet ass NMs/Hnms and tackle CoP or whatever comes our way? A loose alliance is what we need. We will remain in our seperate linkshells but we can band together when we need to. We are already doing it for certain things already....just a thought from an ambitious corsair.

ps: i never bother with paragraphs when posting on forums or whatever. sorry bout that. heh

As for HNMs, no offense, 75s are more preferred and are more "usefull" on situations.. though if you're talking like jeuno HNMs (serket, simurgh etc.) then I guess you could pull that off.. as for CoP, more people means needing more dedication and people willing to repeat same mission for others, which is rather hard to find.

None the less it's a good idea, with enough people certain things can be accomplished.

All good things come with time. I think that our fun with the lostboys will continue for a long time. I believe that we'll still be buddying around when everyone is 75.

We have a lot more talking to do before we really consider pushing on to endgame stuff beyond dynamis. Honestly a lot of us work, and as we are now don't have a lot of free time beyond what we already do in this game. I believe most of us are in this linkshell for fun and friendship, we've always been more social than game oriented.

Having said that, as we do progress and do continue to challange ourselves, the exile/shogun door is always open to our friends in the lostboys and to our extended family on the server.

I'm sure Keir will respond with the official Lost Boys response, but I wanted to peep in and say thank you to all of you Exiles who have been so kind and welcoming and friendly to us. :)

Lost Boys is a roleplaying LS (some people might not have known that!) so we have a huge level range, from mid-20's to mid-60's. Actually, about half of our membership has a job at 65 or slightly higher, and the other half's highest job is 45 or under. So we have this huge gap, but we want to be able to do things as an LS, which is tough. We do level-capped Garrisons and once a month we all go ride the ferry, fish and fight pirates.

I explain all of that mostly to show that many of the Lost Boys -- though I'm not trying to speak for anyone -- aren't very focused on end-game activities yet. Heck, a lot of us are still in the "OMG we're getting high-level" starry-eyed stage. ^^; Okay, maybe that's just me. Anyway, we're still just barely starting to nose out things like Dynamis, end-game HNMs, or even those items/quests that higher-level people are often doing like Hakutaku and such. To most of us this is all very new. ^^ And we're often caught up in doing very non-end-game things like helping people through Promyvions and doing 20-30 level cap events.

(Also again a disclaimer, I'm not trying to speak for anyone. Additionally, Eiswolfe pearl-holders who heard about Shogun through Lost Boys (Kiorah, Lucidric, Rheywolf?) I'm sure have completely different ideas/thoughts/expectations/experiences. ^^; Definitely not trying to speak for a wide group.)

To make a long post longer, thanks for all of your support and the positive comments. :) It makes me feel really good! I hope the Lost Boys can help some of you out as much as you've helped us -- I've learned so much just hanging around you guys.

I know I've said this to some of the Lost Boys, but I'll say it here as well - I'm really glad to have met all of you, and that we're spending time together, both in Dynamis, and in other activities (whether it be quests/missions or stalking exp parties ). Whatever the future holds, I hope that we continue to do a variety of cool stuff together.

Thanks for the shout-out, Seran!

I figure I'll post my official response now, since when I first saw this thread, I was drunk, and when I next saw this thread... I was... drunk. >.> I blame Cuter.

At any rate, not being drunk now, I'll parse things out a bit.

What is Lost Boys?

Owain went into it a little. A lot of Exiles are probably wondering who the heck we are. Basically, Lost Boys is a roleplaying linkshell, in which we often characterize and act out our game avatars. It's something to do in game other than 'omgwuzupif'dupargus!' Not that all of that isn't fun too, but a few of us like to create stories around our characters, so I created LB as a venue to do that.

We don't really have any in-game goals like Dynamis, HNM hunting, or anything like that as a whole, since we are mainly a social LS, rather than one with a specific purpose.

Our members at the moment, as Owain said have a pretty big level gap at the moment. There are about 8-10 of us active members that are 60+. The rest are in the mid-40's or lower. Therefore, many of the linkshell events we currently do either revolve around roleplay, socializing (like our pirate runs), or level 20-30 Garrisons, Promies, etc.

That said... those 8-10 of us that are coming up on 70 are starting to be interested in more challenging events. That's why, when Fishy invited us to join Dynamis, we jumped at the chance! At least, I did. It's not that I want relic - sure relic is awesome, don't get me wrong - but it's also really fun to be around more people my level, to interact and fight beside them, and to experience something new and challenging.

As for an alliance, quite honestly, I considered our linkshell allies the moment Fishy invited us to start going on Dynamis runs with Shogun. I've even got a link to this board on our alliances stickie.

At the moment, as someone else mentioned, I don't think we'll be much help with HNMs. We are levelling every week and working our way up, but at the moment, we're just not high enough. In fact, we're all just now starting to get a handle on Dynamis. This doesn't mean I wouldn't love to do some of this in the future, but like Fishy said, the time will come.

Finally, I would like to extend the invitation that... if any of you need any help with something and LB can be of any help, please feel free to drop us a line. Also, feel free to stop by our boards too.

Oh, oh. Last, but definitely not least. We really appreciate the open arms we've recieved. I know, when you're higher level, it's easy to try and see someone as a leech, but we've all been trying our best, and I'm really thankful for everyone in Exile and how good they've been to us as newcomers and outsiders.

Sincerely,

River (Keir)
