recently it has come to light that attendance on wednesdays does not match up to our typical attendance on sundays. as such we usually do not have a large enough crowd to tackle the path of the mega-boss (sandoria being the new exception as we so awesomely proved last night lotsofsacpullingthough).
so, a few of us were tossing around the idea of altering our wednesday runs by making them an optional farming run, perhaps with different lotting rules, and saving the victories for sunday runs. missing the optional run would not affect your lotting oppurtunities for the sunday run (duh, optional). this would also, in my sexy opinion, be the ideal time to host a sponsered run (whenever it is that we start sponsered runs at a yet-undecided time in the future).
shogun is unique in that most of the people in it have been playing this game together for several years. as such, we work very well together and we have a lot of trust in the others to get the job done. most importantly, we're not afraid to try new ways of doing things. a benefit of making wednesdays optional would be to provide the oppurtunity to work on different strategies in a less critical environment. i as puller would certainly not mind having some chances to practice the more tricky pulls without the risk of killing 30 people, and i know others have had ideas on changing up our fight-to-fight strategies. this farming run would be a nominal oppurtunity to try them out. thats right, nominal.
as for some personal reasons, i typically have 5 scheduled events every week - 2 dynamis, 2 static exp, 1 merit party (although I have been slacking on merits until this recent update). take those 5 nights and add that we're going to be ranking several people up and zipping through zilart on the free nights (or perhaps a static night) in the coming weeks. thats a lot of final fantasy nowadays and im getting a bit stretched out, and i know several others are too. so for me, it'd be nice to have the option to take the night off.
so, i'd like to know everyones' thoughts on this. some things to consider:
- would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile)
- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance)
- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable)
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
- am i really the smelliest galka in dynamis-sandoria? (please i shower weekly)
- would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile)
I would still plan to attend on Wednesdays whenever possible.
- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance)
N/A since I am the wife.
- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable)
Yes, I wouldn't mind having fewer obligations in-game, as my RL obligations aren't likely to ever decrease.
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
N/A
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
Depends on what rules are implement re: sponsored runs; i.e. how the currency may be used.
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
Lotting rules the same for Sunday runs: if you missed previous Sunday w/o a valid, pre-posted excuse, you can't lot. Possible new rules for Wednesday runs: Anyone with AF as primary OR secondary can lot (I can see this being an unpopular idea for people who haven't yet received their primary-lot AF, and popular for people with only secondary lots at this time.).
- am i really the smelliest galka in dynamis-sandoria? (please i shower weekly)
Without a doubt. Sorry Tim - I would have voted Clownpants, but it wasn't an option.
- would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile) Yes, absolutely. I enjoy the challange of dynamis just for the challange. but to have a night where we spend every available moment killing mobs, rather than worrying about sac strategy, etc. is appealling.
- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance) I'll make every appearance I can, but the possibility of missing a run once in a while will keep me from getting bitter.
- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable) Yes.
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down) Nope
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?) no, but I would further say that unless you are actively trying to upgrade a relic, that you should not be allowed to sponser a run.
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen) I'd like to see a more open lotting system on wednesdays. maybe a "if you can use it you can lot" rather than only being able to lot on what you specify. Keep sunday's run focused, let wednesdays be more whimsical.
- am i really the smelliest galka in dynamis-sandoria? (please i shower weekly) You smell like rotting potted meat.
*comes out of the bathroom* yea about that dynamis stuff...i'm pretty casual about it atm since all i really get out of it is xp loss. pretty fun though. i dont mind makin the wednesday run more casual at all to be honest. i usually dont like to plan stuff on wednesday cause im a "lost" buff and dont like to miss it cause im a tv dork. thats about all i have to say bout it really. still pretty new to this dynamis thing. go exiles!
Some of this was covered in a PM to Quetre earlier, but I'll post for public consumption.
would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile)
Yes. At 66, my only goal in Dynamis runs is to hang out and have fun anyway. AF and fancy key items are just bonus.
without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance)
Uh. . . .Is this question -because- of my PM? Yep, I live with a player hater. Not player as womanizer either. I would still plan on attending Wednesday runs but would most likely just show up late at my "normal" start time as the 7:00 times cut into family time (I iz old, dont ya know) by a couple hours.
would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable)
Of course. Admittedly with Static parties crashing all around me, my schedule is not as burdensome as it has been previsouly, but all that changes quickly. Especially if I start looking inot Rank/Zilart/CoP missions.
is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
The Man gets me up. Too damn early. I'm your classic day job office type, so work itself doesnt cut into play time, just occasionally that annoying need for sleep thing.
are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
Not even sure what this means. I can assume, but there are witty little sayings about assuming that I won't go into.
if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
Seriously, again, at 66. . .whatever. Anything my way is bonus and I expect nothing other t han good times and good friends with this.
am i really the smelliest galka in dynamis-sandoria? (please i shower weekly)
Not sure, but showing up late I was sweating bullets to settle in and get rolling and feel like I was contributing. A lot of moisture under the pits. However! Looking at the whole of Dynamis-Sandoria, many people might Agree with Zeph that Dr. Satan was the smelliest Galka. Sorry about that Zeph, that does stink. ::winks::
Good feedback so far, please throw in your two cents if you haven't done so already. We really do want Dynamis to be a positive experience for everyone and are open to suggestions on how we can improve.
- would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile)
Oh I am loving every part of it. Winning is just a bigger bonus, so yes, I would attend any kind of run, as long as I'm available.
- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance)
Blah, here's the problem with me: Our static meets every other weekend night... which means some weekends are Saturday night and some weekends are Sunday, like this week. Which means we'll have to miss every other Sunday. This makes me really sad, as that means that if we make Wednesdays optional I won't be able to lot NEXT weekend when I CAN be there. >.< And then I wouldn't be there the next Sunday, so then I'd lose my lotting rights the next Sunday that I can be there, and blah. I could still lot on the Wednesdays that I can make it to, but as you guys know, I have school and sometimes my professor won't let me out soon enough to be there on Wednesdays. See my delimma?
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
See above! I work 9-5 five days a week, then have class 6-10 three nights a week, including Wednesday. ;_; Statics on Tuesday and every other weekend night, and Thursday night Lost Boys events.
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
Like Marathon, I'm not sure what 'sponsering' means.
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
Is it selfish to ask that Genbu not be penalized for only being able to be there every other Sunday? ;_;
- am i really the smelliest galka in dynamis-sandoria? (please i shower weekly)
I think you're way cool, and cool can't be smelly, but I also know how much of a sweat a puller can work up!
My situation is much the same as Keir's: I have a long-standing static party every other Sunday. The Wednesday runs are actually the best ones for me, provided you guys don't start them at 6 EST ever (I live in Central and that's when I'm just getting off work). I'm happy for the Wednesday runs to be just farming/practice runs, and I'm behind all the other Bards and BLMs in the LS for lotting anyway, but I wouldn't want to lose my lotting privs in an endless cycle of not being able to be there alternate Sundays.
sponsering a run means you shell out the million bucks to purchase the mother hourglass from which all the other hourglasses are made. you then would keep all the currency that drops and use them to upgrade your relic weapon. the rules on this are still not set in stone, but you would have to show you are serious about fully upgrading the weapon. one way other linkshells do this is by only allowing people who have their relic weapon in the second stage or higher to sponser a run, as achieving the second stage shows you've made an investment on your own already. we'll see what shogun comes up with. :)
as for those of you who can only make every other sunday, perhaps some case-by-case exceptions to the lotting rules could be drawn up. if your absences are consistent and can be planned around there might be some fudge room there. something for the sackholders to pow-wow about. i do agree it would be unfair to your lotting rights as it stands now.
All of the above opinions/concerns/questions are being addressed by the sackholders. We're trying to best accomodate everyone while keeping the rules and events as fair and fun as they can be for everyone. We'll post here and discuss it sunday evening prior to entering dynamis.
- would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile)
II wouldn't mind on runs whether we have the chance to win or not.
- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance)
Sundays are perfectly fine for me, except certain days when I have the late shift, which some times turn from week to week basis as one sunday I'm free and the other not.
- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable)
if anything, saturday would be my best day to experience the game since I am definitely free on that day, but yeah, this does help.
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
can't say yet, time'll only tell.
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
I am, but we shouldn't give such priverage to anyone who asks, this kind of thing should be earned, a certain amount of respect and trust to know that the currency earned here won't be just used to self-gain. If for relic, I'm all for the person to get the currency s/he needs to improve his/her relic to aid the whole ls, which will help everyone in the long run.
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
No comment, it's fine as it is, and I hope that we'll never become a point-based dynamis ls. (unless we have a solid people who will show up, till then, if we use points, the people that'll be coming on future runs will almost have no chance to get AFs at all.)
- am i really the smelliest galka in dynamis-sandoria? (please i shower weekly)
Take a shower, DAILY. Not weekly you panda.
*IE works for me, mozilla just doesn't work for me on this site
- would you be interested in attending a farming run with no chance of beating the mega-boss? (will we have a high enough turn-out to make the runs worthwhile)
Totally, if i get the day off i'd so be there. When school starts theyre suppose to go lax on my schedule so we'll see if that becomes my regular day of play.
- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance)
Well considering i have no wife and have no intention of getting one i should be able to do sunday whenever work allows. Other then that the only thing you have to worry about is WoW bf Class leader raid aggro, which can be "dealt" with.
- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable)
I dont think anything will ever relieve that pressure. As Tim told me "i need to play more"
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
This is were crap hits the fan. Since i work for disneyland my schedule is up in the air week to week and could very well be working on both sunday and wensday. However, I do my best to find a way to squeeze you guys in.
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
HELLZ NOOOOO! F upgrading relics, i need my satisfaction NOW! haha
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
Well ill pretend to answer.

- without the pressure of a mid-week required dynamis appearance would you be more likely to attend sunday's victory runs due to lack of wife aggro etc? (will this bolster sunday attendance) *I'm always there anyway. Barring last-second intrusions.
- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable) *Weekends are all I have free anyway. This wouldn't change it much.
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down) *The man has me tucked in his bloody socks, hidden in his dresser drawer. -_-;
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?) *If by "Sponsor" you mean "Pay for the run in exchange for the Artifact money for upgrading Relics", then I'd certainly think about it. >_>;

I have a ton of fun in Dynamis anyway and intend to attend every run I can. Plust more AF2 drops are always just fun.

- would this help to relieve pressure from your already-burdened final fantasy schedule? (making the sunday dynamis experience all the more enjoyable)
Possibly. Three mandatory set times a week is already a pretty big drain on my schedule, and the knowledge that no one's going to blow a gasket if I miss one of them does make things easier in case parents/school/eventually work get uppity.
- is your work schedule such that you can not consistently attend a wednesday event? (has The Man got you down)
Not at this point in time, but see above response.
- are you intersted in sponsering runs in the future? (well? are you?)
Definitely, but not for a while yet. I need the gil for other things first, and I'm 9 levels away from using any of my relics.
- if this change were to happen, what lotting rules would you like to see implemented? (we'll pretend to listen)
The current system actually works pretty well, so... anything, really.

If you're really worried, I think Deodorizers are really cheap on the AH...
